Festival tent with two beer tanks and a tanker truck, next to it an app with target and actual volumes per tent and a man with a smartphone

How Paulaner manages its tank beer supply at Oktoberfest

At the Wiesn, every beer tank has to be refilled in time – depending on the day and the weather. A mobile app shows target and actual volumes per tent and plans the refill runs.

Starting point

At Oktoberfest, the Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe supplies its festival tents with tank beer: large beer tanks in the tents are refilled by tanker trucks again and again during the Wiesn. No tank may run dry – and no run should be wasted.

How much a tent needs changes from day to day and with the weather: when it rains, the wheat beer garden, for example, doesn’t need refilling. Refilling therefore has to match actual demand at all times.

Implementation

codestryke handles the data path from the controllers of the tank systems to the cloud. On top of it runs a volume management app that shows target, actual and refill volumes per beer type for every tent and every day of the Wiesn.

For refilling, the app shows all planned runs with a recommendation: keep filling, skip the run or no change. Weather data feeds into the dashboards, and notifications arrive by email and WhatsApp.

The app is built for smartphones. Drivers open it via a link they automatically receive by text message when refilling, or with a PIN – without a user account of their own.

Result

The Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe has been managing its tank beer supply at Oktoberfest with the app since 2024, most recently at the Wiesn 2026. The teams see the volumes of all tents at a glance and align every refill run with actual demand. codestryke supports operations during the Wiesn and develops the application further every year.

Testimonial

Christian Höflinger
“The team confidently handles the data path from the controller to the cloud and ensures maximum stability for us, especially during the Wiesn. For us, codestryke is the first choice for professional IoT connectivity and applications.”
